ALT Students Enjoy Their Hydroponic Garden

GardenRecently, students in our ALT program were able to harvest the lettuce they have been growing in their inside hydroponic garden.  The plants are thriving in their window location and promise to yield lots of food in the coming months.  Students will be travelling to Cornwall and Seeley's Bay to see commercial hydroponic farms and industrial applications.  View more pictures in our Galleries.

SHSM Sports Management Students Attend ICE Training

ICE TrainingOn February 20th, THS' SHSM Sport students partnered with the YMCA of Quinte West on a new Ministry of Education pilot program. ICE Training (ICE = Innovation, Creativity, Entrepreneurship) allows students to identify a program with a sector partner, and then work through a process to develop solutions for that program. We worked with the YMCA to help develop solutions to help offset the costs of their assisted membership program. Great job by our students who came up with some very creative solutions including the development of a fundraising council, a full-day activity at Batawa Ski Hill, floorball tournaments and other community based initiatives.
