Terry Fox Run 2014

Terry FoxOn Friday September 12, a cool, sunny day greeted THS as the entire school participated in the Annual Terry Fox Walk/Run. After Guest Speaker Evelyn Wilson and a presentation honouring those who are fighting cancer and our special 2014 THS Honourees who succumbed to the disease - Lisa Dunn, Teacher; Ray Hanley, Teacher; Katie Wilson, Student -  our community headed to the field to spell the word 'HOPE'.  The Walk/Run then followed as we filled the streets with our message to Outrun Cancer.  Several hundred dollars were raised.  Well done, THS!

Blind Cooking in Catering Class...Seriously!

blind cookingWould you eat cookies made by chefs who were blind-folded?  Well, our Judges did!  Catering students enjoyed this team building activity and were awarded points based on their results.  The winners were Kaleb, Emily, Chloe, Cody and James with their peanut butter cookies.  This was an impressive event given that last year's cookies were inedible.  A great time was had by all!!

Welcome Back Assembly Becomes A Mini Rock Concert

Toni and Ms. CummingsNo one expected that our school would break out singing when Ms. Cummings and Mr. Manderville planned to end our first assembly with their rendition of "Don't Stop Believin"  but that's exactly what happened!  After presentations by Students' Council, Arts Council, Athletics and Social Justice, Principal Manderville and Vice-Principal Cummings addressed students.  The clear message to everyone was to "Make Each Day Count".  Then, as entertainment, the music started and THS Made It Count.  Maybe a new tradition has been born!  Great spirit, Tigers!!
